Simpson 260® Series 3A
Analog - VOM
Volt-Ohm-Milliammeter
The Simpson 260 Series 3A is a rare model. The Roll-Top model probably even rarer.
The book "1,001 Uses For The 260 Volt-Ohm-Milliammeter" states only about one thousand
of this model was made. By 1965 they had become a "collector's item".
The only difference in the Simpson 260-3 and this Simpson 260-3A is the meter.
The Simpson 260-3A has the self-shielding meter movement and the spring-loaded jewels that
would become standard on all later Simpson 260 models.
Controls include: Ohms zero adjustment, AC - DC - Output, a 12 position Function / Range
selector switch, and eight recessed probe jacks.
The back of the Roll-Top case has for plugs to remove to take the screws out, holding the meter inside.
The inside view shows the printed circuit boards have arrived and trim pots
for calibration are available. The batteries can now be installed without taking the whole
unit apart, only the back of the case needs to be removed. The pigtail type fuse has been
modified with a fuse holder for easier replacement of the 1 amp 250 Volt type 3AG.
More inside views linked below.
The batteries used in this model are a single "D" cell, plus four "AA" batteries, there are two "AA"
below the "D" and one "AA" on each side. The batteries can now be installed without
doing anything but removing the back of the case, after you get it out of the Roll-Top case.
Roll Top Case Size: 9 " x 6 ½ " x 4 ¾ " - Weight: 5¼ Pounds
