The Simpson 270 Series 5 comes standard with the mirrored dial.
This model has 30% greater accuracy at room temperature (77º F) than the 260 Series 8.
The Simpson 270-5 has the Taut Band Suspension and a mirrored dial to eliminate parallax errors.
The "M" designation is not used in the series number.
The 270 Series 5 has the three green Amp-Clamp scales.
Controls include: Ohms zero adjustment, AC - DC Voltage selector switch, and a
12 position Function / Range selector switch. Eight recessed probe jacks take the "reverse banana"
type test leads. The off or "transit" position is on the AC / DC switch.
Starting with the 260 Series 7 and the 270 Series 5, the 1000 Volts to Ground rating is engraved
in or printed on to the face, just below the model number.

The Simpson 270-5 uses the NEDA 13 F "D" cell and NEDA 1604A (9 Volt) battery combination.
The 270-5 has the separate battery / fuse cover to allow you to change the batteries and fuses
without removing the entire back cover. This meter uses a 1 Amp & 2 Amp Fuse.
