Simpson 260® Series 2

The Second Model

Analog - VOM

Volt-Ohm-Milliammeter

There is not much information available about the second model 260.

It was made between the 1940's and 1950's and there was still no "Series" designation.

The probe jacks accept the pin type leads, Part Number 0-008375.

The current Catalog Number 02055 leads  will work with this model.

No Taut Band Suspension or mirrored dial on this model either.

The Operator's Manual can downloaded here.

Controls include: Ohms zero adjustment, AC - DC - Output, a 12 position Function / Range

selector switch, and  six recessed probe jacks. The ohms adjust is now located on the right

side of the case and will remain there for the following models.

This is the first model to use the engraved lettering and the now familiar black molded case.

Back view with cover on and off. A lot of hand wiring here, each resistor has it's own little hole.

This example did not come with the cover over resistors, I show one on the Series 2A.

Just a plain back cover, includes plastic covered handle. The screws are on the back for assembly.

More inside views linked below.

The batteries used in this model are a single "D" cell, plus four "AA" batteries, there are two "AA"

below the "D" and one "AA" on each side. There are no fuses or calibration trim pots.

Case Size: 5¼ " x 7 " x 3"  -  Weight: 3 Pounds  -  "Sparky" says 1954 Price: $36.00

The Adjust-A-View handle makes it's debut !

It can also support the meter in a sloping position for viewing.
